Medical Training Therapy (MTT)

General Advice:

  • We generally recommend an initial test before starting the training for all patients of all ages.
  • Patients wishing to enhance their performance should also undergo a follow-up in order to monitor the training success.
  • Patients with pre-existing cardiovascular diseases should undergo a check-up during the training, evaluating the training succes (blood pressure at rest/under stress, pulse rate, oxygen uptake at rest/under stress, improvement of endurance and intensity)
  • A check-up is necessary, if the performance changes or declines or in case symptoms such as chest pain or shortness of breath under stress occur.

Check-ups During the Training:

The training is carried through upon thourough introduction by ourstaff, all of which having qualifications either in medicine or sports sciences . The execution of the training is documented. Upon request, the physicians can also carry through cardiological/internal check-ups on a regular basis in order to monitor the training progress.

They will assess simple parametres such as the training duration (time under stress at an endurance training) and the training intensity (stress intensity, e.g. wattage at the dynamometre training). Complex medical parametres can also be measured, for example improvement of oxygen uptake of the heart as a sign for training success, or the oxygen supply of the blood at rest or under stress, the heart rhythm under stress in order to exclude heart rhythm disturbances and the regulation of the blood pressure at rest and with physical activity.

This enables us to define an individually suitable endurance training scheme.

Major Indications for Medically Monitored Cardiovascular Training in Case of Cardiovascular Diseases or Risks:

  • Overweight (adiposity)
  • Blood sugar disease (diabetes)
  • High blood pressure (arterial hypertension)
  • Increased cholesterole level (hypercholesterolemia)
  • Training start for untrained patients particularly when of higher age
  • Coronary stenosis
  • After heart attacks
  • In case of cardiac insufficiency

When indicated, the Medical Training Therapy can be medically prescribed.

Our Check-Up Offer - Cardiovascular Services:

  • ECG at rest / under stress
  • Ultrasound of the heart
  • Echocardiography under stress
